The Nye County School District (NCSD) is proud to announce that Alison Matulich, a preschool teacher at Mt. Charleston Elementary School in Pahrump, has been named one of two 2025 Nevada Early Educators of the Year.
The award, presented by the Nevada Department of Education, recognizes the valuable contributions of early educators who work with children from birth through age five. This is a significant honor, highlighting Mrs. Matulich's dedication and skill in fostering a love of learning in our youngest students.
"We are incredibly proud of Alison Matulich for this well-deserved recognition," said Dr. Joe Gent, Superintendent of the Nye County School District. "Her passion for early childhood education and her commitment to her students and families are an inspiration. This award is a testament to the high-quality educators we have in the Nye County School District."
Mrs. Matulich, who began her career as a teacher's assistant, now holds a master's degree in early childhood education. "I love being an early childhood educator because I get to sing songs, read amazing books, explore math, pour paint, dance, and laugh every day with students who are brimming over with joy!" she said. "I also find tremendous value in having a role that serves and supports families and children in my community.”
Her nominator described her as a "shining light" who keeps everyone informed of best practices and district guidance while creating a positive atmosphere in her classroom.
As a winner, Mrs. Matulich will receive a $500 award, a framed certificate, and a Lakeshore gift certificate.
The Nye County School District congratulates Mrs. Matulich on this outstanding achievement. Her dedication to her students and her profession is an asset to our district and the entire state of Nevada.
