Celebrate #Mother'sDay Every Day! @NVCensus2020 is critical for the health and well-being of women and girls. A state undercount will drastically impact federal funding for WIC, Child Care, Head Start, and more. Be counted for them at census.nv.gov.
- 33 million women and girls receive their health coverage (family planning, cancer screenings, mental health care, and disability services) under the federally funded program Medicaid. With a state undercount, Medicaid could suffer a reduction in funding, in turn, impacting women's health.
- The census provides valuable data for programs under the Violence Against Women Act & Family Violence Prevention and Services Act such as survivor advocacy and legal services.
- Over 7 million women, infants, and children up to age 5 rely on the federally funded Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) as it provides supplemental food, nutrition education, and referrals to social and health services.
- The census-derived program Head Start offers comprehensive early education, nutritional, health, and social services to nearly 1 million children and pregnant women (FY 2018).
